Being a graduate assistant for STEP for the past two years has been such a great experience for me both personally and professionally. Not only have I been able to support students in their transition to college, but through the relationship building I have been able to connect with them on a much deeper level outside of their academics. I have been able to see these students grow throughout the year that I work with them, and it is definitely sad to not be able to continue with all of them. The advising, rapport building, and multicultural competency skills in supporting students is something that I will take with me in my full time professional role post graduation, where I will be supporting Boston Public high school graduates who started college, left at some point, and now want to return. I truly could not have seen myself in any other assistantship role."
